A Baby Boy - The Crafting Cafe DT Make

It's time for another challenge over at The Crafting Cafe!  This month the theme is 'A Baby Is Born' and we are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps.  Here is my DT make for the challenge:

The digi stamp is from our sponsor this month and was coloured with pro markers, this panel was cut out and faux stiching added around the edge.  The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse and was stamped directly onto the 6x6 card blank.  I added the pale blue ribbon around the card blank and then mounted the digi panel onto the card front with foam pads.

Bugaboo Stamps are giving away 7 digi stamps for the winner so click HERE to pop over to the challenge blog and join in!!

Dictionary Challenge - Letter D

Hello Everyone, it's time for a new letter over at The Craft Barn Blog, this time round the chosen letter is D and there is no twist for this letter.  To find out more details about the challenge click HERE

I chose the word 'Dahlia' for my pages this time:

I started by masking the definition of the word dahlia.  I then gave both pages a wash of watered down fresco paint in snowflake to blend the dictionary words into the background a bit.
I stamped the dahlia stamp by stampendous several time and did a little bit of masking to overlap them in black archival and heat set.  I coloured the dahlias using water soluble wax crayons. I then coloured the background with the crayons also.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Octopode Birthday

Hi Everyone

Today I have a birthday card to share:

I started by creating the background - using a square of card I smeared paperartsy fresco paints in pansy, rose and zesty zing all over it.  I then stamped over this with the hexagon stamp by dreamies using versafine in smoky grey.

I printed out the Jolee image from The Octopode Factory and coloured her using promarkers.  I then added the happy birthday sentiment to the background using black archival and stamps from waltzing mouse.  I mounted the background onto black card and then adhered to a 6x6 scalloped card blank.  Finally I fussy cut Jolee and added her to the card with foam pads to give her more dimension and make her pop from the busy background.

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:

  • The Octopode Factory Friday Challenge - this week the theme is 'Make a Card' click HERE for all the details
  • Smudgy Antics Blog - the theme here is 'Use Fussy Cutting' click HERE to visit their blog
  • Inkspirational - this time it's an Anything Goes challenge - click HERE for more info

Dictionary Challenge - Letter T

Hi Everyone

Total last minute for me this time - I don't quite know where the time disappeared too!!

But today I created my pages for the letter T over in the dictionary challenge at The Craft Barn blog - click HERE for all the details for this letter.

My word this time is TRAIN:

I started by masking the definition and then covered my pages with paperartsy fresco finish paints in the following colours; guacamole, tinned peas, hey pesto, hyde park, limelight and zesty zing.
I used the brick wall stencil from that special touch with fresco pumpkin soup and smoked paprika on the background.  Next I added the white chevrons using fresco snowflake and an Andy Skinner stencil.
I then used stamps from the Stampendous railroad set with black versafine ink to add the images of the map, timetable, ticket and trains.
I unmasked the definition but decided it looked too stark against the background so I added some of the fresco translucent paints (zesty zing and limelight) to blend it in to the background.  I then added a border around the definition with a pencil and smudged it with my finger.
To finish off the pages I added renaissance treasure gold around the edges with my finger and smudged it around.

Thanks for stopping by today, please feel free to leave a comment so I know you dropped by!
